what should I do with these?

by Owner 1. May 2010 20:04

So I have been cutting the metal pyramids out and thought I had a great idea, but as I cut them out they were really cool and could do so many things with them. I am going to cut one out each day until I am out of the metal. So what should I do with them?
  • pokey ball
  • stacked
  • whatever you think

Just found out that these are not called pyramids but Tetrahedrons "which is three sided" so what should I do with them hehe

pyramids

So I have decide to stack them on top of each other in interesting ways. AND then put a space ship beside it, either taking off or floating in the air. Maybe if I am really good I will put some lights in it.

Motor city bird of love

by Owner 24. April 2010 16:31

I received a blower from my friend that had a 1/3 hp motor on it, was going to use it to blow out the garage of the welding smoke, but it did not work. So I tried to pull it apart and of course it broke even worse. So it was headed for the trash, luckily when I was sleeping I dreamed of using it as a body.

Looking through my animal book there was a lot of animals, though the bird seemed to be the best option. The eyes are quick clips and can be used for a key chain holder for you back porch or front door.

First timer in 1st annual art fair.

by Owner 18. April 2010 07:04

I want to start by saying thank you for everyone that came out and visited my booth at the 1st Annual eco arts festival. It was a great learning experience for me.Things that I learned:

  • That pricing is very important
  • Being friendly to everyone is a must, and people are wonderful
  • Bring change, and make signs in advance
  • Background would have been cool to have.
  • That it was not as scary as I thought.
While at the fair I got my wife talked into helping me with it, and she really liked it. This is a plus for me because I have someone that will help me with loading and unloading. Also if I have to go to the bathroom or get hungry she is there for me to watch the booth.

The winner of the dragonfly was very excited and I will be delivering it tonight to her house.

Truck Fixing and sanding and painting

by Owner 4. April 2010 07:03

I really should be working on my art work since I have about a week till the fair, but I got a new "NEW TO ME" truck for $500 and it needed some body work. It runs really good, though it's outward appearnce is a little ruff. I believe that Iowa winters are really hard on any viecle and when then get older the salt seems to sit in the wheel wells and eat away at the metel like cancer.

Why does it need to be done if it runs good?

Well simply I do not want to be driving my artwork around or getting metal in a total piece of shit "Plus I have ADD and have to get it done", and I do not want to have a nice truck because then I could not just throw metal in it. I really am not the best body person, and cannot afford or want to take it to a body shop. That being said I would not want to take it to one either because I have had to weld sheet metal into the rusted areas and then shape it, so it has been another learning situation that will help with my artwork.

At this point most of the rust has been sanded down and bondo laid for the dents, someone sure did not care if it ran in things I guess.

Funny thing to me is that there was dent where the mirror was which I was trying to pull out. As I was doing this the mirror ripped out of the holes, so the welder comes out to weld onto the door. HA!! take that mirror because I am not going to buy a new one.

ying yang potholder/candle holder

by Owner 28. March 2010 19:44

I really needed to make something today that had to do with dog feet. I have been thinking of ying yangs lately and how they take in light one one side and spit out darkness on the other, or visa versa. You will always have day with night, you will always have good and evil. All these things need each other to balance one another. So it just made sense that it be created.  Laughing

The feet were really hard, it was the first time I have used clay in the form of the square to see how hammering on the anvil on a softer medium, it worked wonderful. I always know when I have made a good product when my wife want to keep it.
